Office complex in Hakaniemi

The former Elanto department store and two neighbouring properties were renovated with respect for history into one 45 000 brm2 office and service complex in Hakaniemi, Helsinki. Hepacon was the HVAC designer for the project. The Siltapaasikorttel (Siltasaarenkatu 6-10 and Paasivuorenkatu 4) was completed in 2021.
The project was very interesting from a building services engineering point of view. For heating, cooling and building automation, three buildings of different ages were made into one entity. The property has a common district cooling connection and district cooling centre, as well as a common district heating connection and district heating sub-centre. The property also has a common service water connection and sewage connections, but from a ventilation point of view, the site has separate areas per building and per service area, which are not mixed.
